As of June2011. The pictures makes us believe that the circuit will not be fully ready for the inaugural. May be finishing some of the stands will be postponed and concentration will be focused on selected few infrastructure.

The promoters are still not sure of the areas that will be completed as the ticket sale depends on the work completion. So the ticket sale is also postponed. Looks like we will rushed in to the inaugural race at F1 speed. Good Luck to the promoters.

The tickets can be purchased only at the following official site. Look at the warning and heed to it.

Formula One toyed with the idea of Indian Grand Prix as long ago as 1997, and in 2003 a deal was signed to host the event near Hyderabad for seven years from 2007 although that soon fell by the wayside. In 2007, Bernie Ecclestone announced a provisional agreement to host a race at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, 50 kms from Delhi, from 2009, but delays meant that it was delayed until 2011.

Almost inevitably, Hermann Tilke was commissioned to design the 5.1km track which was expected to cost around $320 million with a predicted opening date in February 2011, although delays caused by the weather soon pushed the deadline back to July 2011 for an October 30 race date.

There were no surprises in the Turkish GP 2011. Sebastian Vettel raced away to his third win of this season. Mark Webber, the only man who can challenge, started from the dirty track and never recovered from following slow moving Nico Rosberg. By the time Mark Webber over took Rosberg, Sebastian Vettel had a 4 seconds advantage.

Michael Schumacher is finding ways to get excuses. This time he defended from Vitaly Petrov too much his position that ultimately lead to damage of his front wing. He pit stopped immediately and as usual was in the center of being over taken by Tom, Dick and Harry. I hope he will retire this season if not mid way!

Most of the top finishers are in 4 stop plan, barring Jenson Button and Kamui Kobayashi. You can add Sebastian Vettel to this but Sebastia Vettel pit stopped late to avoid any tyre disadvantage due to any safety cars at later stage! 3 stop strategy did not do any good to Jenson Button as he lost 2 position in the end (Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg).

Among the back markers, Sebastian Beumi finished respectable 9th. Narain Karthikeyan finished first time ahead of his team mate Vitantanio Luizzi. But Narain was 1 lap down to the nearest Virgin Racing car. Time he increased his speed in both qualifying and in races. Liuzzi had a wheel nut problem and did 2 more pit stops. Lucky he got classified.

Lewis Hamilton tried a overtaking in the start against Mark Webber and over run a corner allowing cars to overtake him. Even though he finished 4th he could have done lot better than that.

Over all the race was boring except for few maneuvers from Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso. Hope the other teams up their package and fight for the race win as Redbulls run is making the F1 races predictable and boring.

The newly named Buddh International Circuit – that from October 28-30 will host the inaugural Indian Grand Prix.
It’s reckoned that the new Formula One circuit, located on brown-field land in Greater Noida, about 50 kilometres south-east of central Delhi, will generate approximately $170m in income, mostly for local hotel and tourism industries, and provide up to 10,000 jobs.

The investment required to make this happen is massive – an estimated $300 million (€220 million). But a 10-year race deal has been granted, during which period that outlay will be recouped, while the sheen of Formula One brings with it many intangible benefits such as national prestige and global exposure for a host nation. Also very handy is F1’s web of international business links.

The new circuit is 5141m long (5088m following the racing line), with 16 corners, 14 metres of elevation change (it looks more than it sounds), and a 693-metre back straight where top speeds of 320km/h will be hit, for a predicted Formula One lap time of 1m 27s, making it one of the faster circuits. It’s designed as a dual-use track that will host MotoGP races as well as F1, so its precise spec (details of kerbing, run-off areas, safety barriers etc) have to be fitted to both purposes. The looping Turn 10, for example, will have two distinct profiles: a tighter inner line for the bike racers and a wider, faster, higher and longer outer curve for F1.

M/s Jaypee Sports International Limited (JPSI), is in the process of developing a motor racing circuit at Sports SDZ, Sector 25, along Yamuna Expressway, at G.B. Pant Nagar, U.P., where India’s first Formula One race is scheduled to take place in October 2011.

The newly-constructed track that will host India’s inaugural Formula 1 race will carry the name Buddh International Circuit. The title was confirmed during a launch event in India today at which the track’s logo was unveiled.

“The name ‘Buddh International Circuit’ has been chosen with reference to the area where the racetrack is situated – Gautam Budh Nagar district (near Greater Noida). Because of its location, naming the circuit ‘Buddh International Circuit’ was a logical choice for the company,” said a statement from the organizers.

The 3.194-mile, 16-turn track will hold its first grand prix on 30 October this year.

The 5.14km long Jaypee International Race Circuit has been designed by renowned German architect and racetrack designer, Herman Tilke, who has also designed other world class race circuits in Malaysia, Bahrain, China, Turkey, Indonesia, the UAE, South Africa, South Korea and the US.

The Jaypee International race track is designed to suit the requirements of powerful, high-spec racing cars and motorcycles. The track’s combination of straights, corners and elevation changes has been designed to allow high speeds and provide opportunities for overtaking. All mandatory aspects like safety norms and regulations, run-off areas and medical facilities etc., are being incorporated in the race venue.

In a bid to promote motorsport in India, track management also have plan to set up a race academy at the Jaypee International race circuit, where aspiring racers will be provided with facilities that would allow them to hone their craft. Academy will facilitate car and motorcycle racers develop their talent and take it to the next level. Drivers will be helped to start working towards earning a professional racer’s license, learn about the importance of health and fitness and even develop marketing and PR skills.

Organizers are also building two Karting tracks, close to Jaypee International F1TM race circuit. One of the tracks will be a 1.2km long CIK World Championship standard track, while the other would be built for learners and the leisure Karting market. Karting enthusiasts will be offered a selection of fast, powerful machinery in these Karting circuits.

The Jaypee International race track is developed by Jaypee Group in the Jaypee Sports City consisting of commercial, recreational and residential properties spread over 2,500 acres. This world class facility will include apart from motor racing track – cricket stadium, hockey arena and a full complement of sports infrastructure.

New measures implemented in F1 are bringing in positive results. The unpredictability of the race result till last lap is bringing back the excitement which was missing in F1 for a long time. There are signs that F1 is on its way to regain its past glory. F1 has adopted new measures in the last 3 years desperately seeking remedy for lack of overtaking / excitement in the races.

This year all the 4 elements which brought this change are in use. The ban on refueling, DRS (Drag Reduction System), KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) and Pirelli Tyres for 2011. I never thought these combination will make the races very unpredictable and hence exciting.

Earlier, the driver on pole position will start a funeral procession when the 5 red lights go off and finishes with out much of change in the order down below. With no over takings, one has to wait for an accident to occur to make the race lively.

Not any more, the DRS has allowed the car behind to get the speed and over take easily. Even though I have reservations on how it is being implemented, I hope the concept will evolve to more acceptable way in the future.

Another one is KERS. Even though, KERS advantage is very minimal as every one will have access to it all the time, if one uses it judiciously, they can beat the car in the front. And sure it also adds the extra element to over take apart from conserving and using energy which is otherwise wasted.

Ban on refueling has already made the drivers to drive optimally shedding the unnecessary aggressiveness. There are races now the drivers are forced to go in to cruise mode to conserve the fuel allowing other cars to take a shot at them.

Pirelli rubbers has taken the F1 to a new level. By making the tyres not last long, Pirelli has ensured the drivers don’t run in circle at the maximum speed their aerodynamics will permit without taking care of rubbers. Now the drivers have to ensure the longevity of the rubbers. It is a balance act they have to do with speed and life of the rubbers.

3 races are over and the first taste of success of this new experiment has come in the Chinese GP.

This new found excitement has rejuvenated F1 and has made watching F1 again interesting. Hope it lasts for ever.

Sebastian Vettel won the Malaysian GP without much challenge from his rivals despite unusable KERS system. His compatriot Mark Webber had a eventful race from start to finish as his KERS did not work at the start enabling other cars in the back (2 Ferraris, 2 Renaults and MS in Mercedes) to easily over take him. Mark Webber endured a very difficult race and in the end fought unsuccessfully to claim the third spot from Nick Heidfeld.

While Mark Webber fought his way up, I fought the afternoon sleep and watched through out the race. The race was very confusing as there is no pattern emerged until the end as there were scores of pit stops for tyre changes. This is going to be the penultimate race before the race time shifts from afternoon time in India. Chinese race may be the last one. I am glad the fight with the body will end in just 1 race. ;D

I did not hear from the race telecast what happened to HRT’s Narain Karthikeyan. They also not aware as they too posed the same question over the telecast Karthikeyan retired after lap 15 but his team mate continued well in to 47th lap and I don’t know whether he retired too. But both the cars did not get race classified. That is the level of telecast. There was no tele coverage catering to all spectrum of fans and they did not cover all the cars. As usual F1 covered only those who are fighting at the top. Much worse is Sebastian Vettel’s race. His race too did not get much coverage as he was in the race lead all along and was never challenged.

There were issues for Redbull like KERS and DRS. Despite that Vettel still managed to win comfortably and that should be a worrying factor for other teams as they should be knowing well that from here on Redbull only can improve their car further.

Right now the top 4 teams are 1] Redbull 2] McLaren 3] Renault 4] Ferrari. I am putting Renault ahead of Ferrari because the car is better than Ferrari. Only the drivers are not as good as Ferrari drivers. Renaults should be missing Robert Kubica. He could have easily won at-least this race if he was in Nick Heidfeld’s position. Nick Heidfeld is not as combative as Sauber’s Kobayashi and this alone will ensure he will again be left seat-less in the next season unless he wins 1 or 2 races this season.

Coming to Mercedes, DRS did not work well for Michael Schumacher as it happened in the Q3 and he was sliding around a lot. Sorry to see him in that condition. Nico Rosberg condition was much worse as he lost out at the start and never regained finishing 12th.

Kobayashi vs Schumacher is becoming a norm in every race. The former always winning all the challenges. Hope Mercedes comes with better car in the rolling development. By finishing ahead of Nico Rosberg, MS has temporarily shut the mouth of many but Rosberg will bounce back soon in the races ahead.

There were incidents involving Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton. Both fought each other. Both were penalized 20 seconds by FIA stewards. Hamilton lost 1 position because of this to Kobayashi. Hamilton blocked more than once Alonso and Alonso later touched Hamilton’car in the rear breaking Ferrari’s front wing. The fight between them ensured Felipe Massa take a cool 5th ahead of them.

Vitaly Petrov flew to a podium in Melbourne two weeks ago although the Russian was performing flying of a very different nature in Sunday afternoon’s Malaysian Grand Prix, throwing away a points finish with a mistake which broke his Renault’s steering column. Car went flying after Petrov over ran a turn breaking late. I must say Petrov is back

DRS is making the over takes easy for the cars but make the car up front a sitting duck. It is a unfair game, putting the car in the front at disadvantage all the time. System should be scrapped to bring element of fairness in the sport.

This race was better than the Melboune GP but the telecast was sub-standard.

Narain Karthikeyan second stint in F1 has started in a rather bizarre manner at the Australian GP. Both he and his team mate Vitantanio Luizzi failed to qualify for the main race due to their timing was below the 107% rule. None of the paddock people were surprised as the team unwrapped their car just before the qualifiers which means there was no time for setting up.

The excuses give by Colin Kolles were too silly. Initially they had problem in Customs during the Barcelona test! Then they worked over night to get both the cars ready. Ultimately they failed to race.

Worst is yet to come. The team tried sponsors but could not find any other than the lone sponsor Narain Karthikeyan has brought in. TATA’s interest is only Narain Karthikeyan. They may be feeling already jittery that their name is in the car.

Now there is a talk of financial constraints and also about bring in fresh investment. The Korea group which is cited as interested has not made any statement so for.

Narain Karthikeyan who had reservations sometime back to drive a also ran car has walked in to a much worse car unless some miracle takes place in Malaysian GP. The team does not have any resources to continue to develop the car which means the car may not get any better.

Under this conditions it very likely Narain Karthikeyan may not race in the Indian GP for which he made a comeback as the team may wind up well before that.

What a win at the end. First time a country won the cup in their home soil. Only, third time in the history a country chased a big total and won. When Sachin Tendulkar and Virendra Shewag fell to Mallinga, I felt it was matter of time before SriLankans wrapped up the game. Not to be.

Usually, Indians after losing early wickets used to crumble under pressure. Those miserable days were light years away as Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli came together in what was a crucial partnership. A partnership to consolidate and recoup. And when Virat Kohli departed after a good partnership, it looked like SriLankans might sneak back in. In came Mahendra Singh Dhoni who was out of form with bat for a year. He and Gambhir played some sensible innings by picking 1s and 2s keeping the asking rate within control.

Gambhir exit at 97, did not bring relief to SriLankans as in-form Yuvaraj Singh came to join his captain in the middle. All along the innings, Indians did not go for flashy shots as most of the runs came through 1s, 2s, 3s and occasional 4s. In the end, Dhoni hit a well deserved winning six in the 49th over as India clinched home the world cup title.

India is the first home country to do so despite facing the burden of being a favorite and playing in front of the home crowd. Srilankans were outplayed in all departments of the game. Indians upped their fielding quality above that of SriLankans and also restricted Srilankans with some good bowling in the initial period.

India opened the account for the South Asian teams with a world cup win in 1983 against West Indies. Pakistan and SriLankans followed India in the later editions. It is India again which has opened the second round of win for the South Asian teams. As other sports like Football, Rugby and Tennis are taking away the talents in developed countries like England and Australia, may be South Asian teams will dominate the game in the coming decades. And it is better India is in the forefront to satisfy the cricket crazy nation.

Satisfaction should be double for India as India played some formidable opponents in the knock out stages. Both the matches against Australia and Pakistan showed the class of India.

SriLankans on the other hand had some easy victory against week kneed opposition which did not put up any resistance to SriLankans. This came as a handicap for SriLankans as they faced a much tougher opponent in the final.

In the end it is India India. Crowd which was in the edge of the seat till 43rd over erupted in joy as Dhoni hit the winning run. Entire nation went in to celebration mode.
